Fallpolis (/fallpolis/ [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Town located in Menû Keni Kingdom, Damozajiu County, within the Kingdom of Helsteria.

The name Fallpolis is derived from the Sylvin language, as Fallpolis was founded by Glëm Lobell, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Fallpolis has a yearly average temperature of 23°C (73°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 27°C (80°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 19°C (66°F). Fallpolis receives an average of 231 cm/y (90 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Fallpolis covers an area of nearly 4 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 6556 m (-21440 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Fallpolis was founded durring the early 12th century in summer of the year 1144, by Glëm Lobell. The establishment of Fallpolis was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Fallpolis's construction back out of the project. Glëm Lobell pushed on reguardles, and Fallpolis was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Fallpolis was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Fallpolis is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Fallpolis is buildings are arranged arround a network of crampt packed earth streets which form a grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town posesses a mighty albit amaturly crafted stone wall. It was built using querried stone blocks and posesses all of the standard defencive features, including a few watch towers. While it would last against a siege, the wall's outdated and simplistic construction method percludes the possability of Fallpolis weathering a full scale bombardment durring a siege. The town's budget focused millitary grade defenses have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.

Something in your gut tells you that you may be unwelcome in Fallpolis. The town seems like it’s not showing you the side of itself it would show to others. People mostly ignore your questions. Many folks ask you to leave their establishments, even before you’ve walked inside them. You should probably listen to them, as every time you’re asked to leave the person asking you to leave has referenced the town’s patron divine in some way. The little voice in the back of your mind that tells you when you’re in danger feels like it’s just glaring at you and muttering about how stupid you are for even remaining in town.

Civic Infrastructure

Fallpolis has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Fallpolis.

Fallpolis has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Fallpolis has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Fallpolis has a Hall of Slayers, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Fallpolis has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Fallpolis's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Fallpolis has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Fallpolis has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

Fallpolis has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Fallpolis's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for its functional shapes, abstract shapes used sparingly for decor, simple color schemes, holistic design, and basic industrial materials. Its simple designs were created to be beautiful, functional, and mass-producible. The style used little to no embellishment or ornamentation, instead drawing attention to the streamlined design, such as flat roofs to create a simple, geometric look. The simplicity masks the style's nearly sinister functionality, as every last feature is designed to guide the people living in the building in how to make the most efficient use of the structure.

In Fallpolis there are unidentifiable people in the fog, but it seems to be okay.

The Skin Stitcher near Fallpolis are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Fallpolis's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves gestures to channel Wild Magic energies of tier 1 via mimery.

Economy

Points of Interest

Fallpolis is home to some form of natural wonder. It could be a hot spring, or an especially enchanting glade, or a particular vista. Whatever it is, it's such a lovely attraction that Fallpolis sees its fair share of tourists every year from all across Eyom. Consequently, its residents speak many languages at a functional level.

Fallpolis is known for its odd use of round-a-bouts, small ring roads used in place of intersections.

POI

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Fallpolis was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Fallpolis lost 189 people, 156 livestock, and 92 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 126, when members of Fallpolis's militia enacted an operation to patrol a specific area to dissuade the enemy from their current activities. The operation was complicated by blistering heat, such that many succumbed to heatstroke. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in a crushing defeat for Fallpolis's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Fallpolis's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
